The Asian Secondary Mortgage Market Association (ASMMA) held its committee meeting in Bali, Indonesia on December 17, 2018. The meeting was chaired by Pak Ananta Wiyogo from SMF Indonesia and was attended by delegates from member countries compriding of Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Mongolia, Korea, Japan, Thailand and Kazakhstan.
The delegates welcomed Kazakhstan as the newest member of ASMMA. Ms. Assel of Kazakhstan Mortgage Company presented an invaluable insight into their domestic housing and mortgage markets alongside the development of the Secondary Mortgage Market. This was followed by updates from other delegate countries who presented on their respective domestic developments. Other than the vanilla structures, the delegates deliberated on numerous themes revolving around sustainable development, social development and affordable housing.
Mr. Hwang Jae Hoon from Korea Housing Finance Corporation took us through the preparation for the forthcoming ASMMA annual meeting that is scheduled for early September 2019. It was also decided that Kazakhstan will host the ASMMA annual meeting for 2020. The meeting came to an end once the agenda objectives were achieved and was feted to a scrumptous closing dinner by our gracious host.
